Roof Styles for Prefab Metal Carports
The roof of your steel carport is just as important as the rest of the structure, it provides extra stability and complete protection for your property. While choosing the style roof you want, be sure to take your area’s weather conditions into consideration. There are many customers who base their decision on the roof’s practicality, appearance, and sometimes both! Our available roofing systems are listed below –
- Regular Roofs – Regular roofs are the most economical option offered in the metal building industry. They are designed and engineered to have rounded edges and horizontally-oriented paneling. Asides from being economically-priced, another great benefit to this roof is the horizontal panels being able to slow down running water. We recommend this roofing system to our customers in areas that do not typically experience high winds, heavy rain, or heavy snowfall.
- A-frame Horizontal Roofs – A-frame horizontal roofs are often referred to as boxed-eave roofing systems. Their primary benefit is the ability to own an A-frame style structure without the high cost of a vertical roof. Its horizontal panels and framing make this the best option for warmer areas that experience very little precipitation.
- Vertical Roofs – Vertical roofs are also A-frame styles, similar to the boxed-eave option. This roofing system is the most durable and top-selling option offered at Carport Direct. With additional framing pieces put in place for added protection and vertically aligned panels, this roof type can easily channel all debris and precipitation off the roof. While they are engineered to withstand all climate types, the vertical roof is most reliable for areas with extreme weather conditions.

Certify Your Prefab Carport
Depending on the weather conditions in your area, you may need to have your custom carport certified. A certified structure is one that has been designed and engineered to meet local or state building codes as well as wind and snow load ratings. Compared to those without certifications, a certified unit is much stronger and can withstand harsher weather elements. If you choose to certify your carport, it will be built with 12-gauge steel framing. 12-gauge framing has diameter of 2 ¼” x 2 ¼” and is the strongest, thickest framing option available. We also offer a 14-gauge steel framing; however, it has a diameter of 2 ½” x 2 ½” and because it is thinner than 12-gauge, it is easier to work with.
The wind rating and snow load that your structure will need to be certified for will depend greatly on the conditions of your area. For example, areas that experience heavy snowfalls in the winter will need to be certified for a higher snow load, while areas prone to high winds will need to have a higher wind rating.
Prefab Metal Carport Sizes
The size of your carport will depend on several factors, including your budget and intentions for the structure. We recommend taking all current and anticipated needs into consideration, not only will this give you additional room to work with, but it will help you save money down the road. We do offer standard sizes to choose from, with widths starting at 18’ and going up to 24’. If our standardized carports do not fulfill all your needs, you can opt to customize your structure and select dimensions that better suit your requirements.
Financing and Rent-to-Own for Custom Carports
Carport Direct understands how important price is. No matter what your needs or situation may be, price always matters. Whether you’re a cash-conscious customer or simply cannot afford the full price of your structure upfront, we offer two excellent financial programs to assist you with paying for the unit. Our rent-to-own program is one of the quickest and easiest ways to get your custom carport. There are no outside agencies involved, so there’s no need to worry about your application being denied or your credit being checked. You simply fill out the form, make an initial deposit, and make monthly payments based on the overall cost of your building. Our financing program is another great way to get the carport you’ve been needing without breaking the bank. However, the difference between financing and RTO is that our financing program is handled by an outside agency.
